ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management. The standard states that the quality management policy should be documented and made known to all employees.
ISO 9001 can be used to determine if an organisation is capable of meeting the client’s requirements, the rules and regulations applicable to the particular product and the requirements of the organisation itself, and to improve customer satisfaction. The business processes must be demonstrably controlled.
To check if all requirements are met, audits are performed by an independent certifying body, that issues a certificate when everything is found to be in order. This certificate has to be renewed every 3 years.
